You Are What You Eat

Are you familiar with the term “long pig?” It’s a reference to human flesh, specifically human flesh intended for consumption by other humans. I’m not sure of the origins of the phrase. It might go back to some backwoods native tribe somewhere. Supposedly it first appeared in a book by Fredrick O’Brien, a travelogue of the Polynesian Islands called “White Shadows in the South Seas” published in the early Twentieth century. The scientific term for cannibalism is “anthropophagy.” It doesn’t really matter what words we use to describe it, though. It remains the ultimate taboo, even regarded with more dread than the act of necrophilia. Jeffery Dahmer, like many a cannibal killer, managed to kill two birds with a single stone: he’d have sex with his long pigs before he ate them. (Gives new meaning to the term “Don’t play with your food.”)

Dahmer is the most infamous cannibal murderer, but he’s hardly unique. Read here about the exploits of others, some as evil and twisted as Jeffrey, whereas some just went bonkers under the influence of certain illicit pharmaceuticals. (I question the thing about the stamina pills, though. Smells like Internet hoax more than roasting long pig.)
