World of Warcraft: Cataclysm’s Female Worgen Revealed

A few months back I wrote about Cataclysm, the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, and mentioned the two new playable races: We’ve got the Horde’s greedy Goblins and the Alliance’s werewolf-like Worgen! Obviously it’s not the filthy goblins that bring us here today (booo Horde!) but the worgen.

The moment I heard about the worgen I knew I was going to roll one. I mean come on, they’re these badass shapeshifters! Unfortunately all of the promo photos Blizzard revealed were of male worgen, and as awesome as they looked I wanted to see the females (since obviously that’s what I’ll be playing). But good news Warcrack fans! Blizzard has finally given us images of the lady worgen! Woo!

I do have to add that Blizzard has stressed that these are a work in progress and will likely change a bit by the time the game comes out. Either way, check out what they have so far:

(Click for full size)
Leather Armor: Worgen can be Druids and Rogues.

Cloth Armor: Worgen can be Priests, Mages, and Warlocks.

Chain Armor: Worgen can be Hunters.

Plate Armor: Worgen can be Death Knights and Warriors.

I can’t wait to roll a female worgen druid! I am so in love with these images! But what do you think my fellow addicts? Do you like the their look or do you think they need more work?

If you’re interested in learning more about the worgen check this out:

“The worgen’s first verified appearance in the Eastern Kingdoms has been traced back to the Third War, when the archmage Arugal utilized the wolf-beasts as a weapon against the Scourge. Arugal’s weapons soon turned against him, however, as the curse of the worgen rapidly spread among the human population, transforming ordinary men and women into ravenous, feral creatures.

Arugal adopted many of the worgen as his own and retreated to the former mansion of Baron Silverlaine, the estate now known as Shadowfang Keep. The curse, however, was not contained. It persisted in the lands of Silverpine and extended even into the fabled walled nation of Gilneas, where the curse rapidly reached pandemic levels.

The citizens of Gilneas found themselves trapped, with no hope of escape. They retreated deeper within the isolated domain, and there they survived, fearful of the savage presence that lurked just outside the barricades.

Tensions among the displaced citizens escalated over time, resulting in a civil war that now threatens to destabilize the embattled nation even more.

There are those among the Gilneans, however, who cling to hope. Many believe that a treatment for the worgen curse may exist, although others have nearly given up, fearful that if the barricades should fall, their humanity will be lost forever.”

  1. It is all good to see more werewolves in video games, but I am not too fond of the big 3 toes version. Too bad they couldn’t put more of a mane on it as well with maybe a fur shader of some sort. I am doing my own style werewolf in this screenshot: http://www.lonewolf.ws/news.php high res 2D comic book style. This seems to be more along the line of my tastes but WOW has it’s own style to maintain.

  2. Hey hey hey I’m not happy about the goblins ether i would more than want the worgons too but i still cant wait! (BOO ALLIANCE! just saying)

  3. The current female form is pretty similar I just don’t get why they have to look like dolls. More muscle would be better in my eyes.
