This is a true cause for celebration for Lycanthrope fans. WOLFCOP, when it came out way back in 2014, was such a pleasant surprise. I had seen the trailer, and hoped for an hour-and-a-half of dumb fun, maybe a few laughs. I wasn’t expecting any more than that. What I got was a razor-sharp satire, howlingly funny at times, with fully fleshed-out characters and enough werewolf action to make a fanboy like me positively giddy. I wasn’t the only person to feel this way about the flick; far from it. It’s no surprise, then, that a sequel would be forthcoming. Join me in celebration, then, my peeps, as not only is a sequel being made, it has ALREADY been filmed! ANOTHER WOLFCOP (perfect title!) was completed earlier this year, and is being helmed by Lowell Dean, the same writer/director who brought us the original, and features actor Leo Fafard reprising the role he was born to play, Police Officer Lou Garou, the Wolfcop!
I hope there’s a franchise, here. If the new film is as good as the original, I see no reason why it shouldn’t happen. The sequel is supposed to be “bigger, badder, dirtier, and hairier,” so why not keep it going? Forget cowbell. (Whatever the hell that even means. I’ve never understood that joke. Something to do with Christopher Walken, I think.) We need more WOLFCOP!
