Color me VERY skeptical about this one, but a new rumor making the rounds states that Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman herself, may be portraying the Bride of Frankenstein. And this after last week brought news that the Dark Universe planned by Universal Studios, the revamped shared universe featuring all the classic Universal Monsters, might be dead in the water. That’s why I doubt that the rumor has any merit. But let us ponder for a moment, what if it IS true? How would you feel about Gadot as the Bride? Myself, I like the idea. The statuesque, gorgeous Gadot has the acting ability to lend the character its necessary level of gravitas. So does Angelina Jolie, the star who had previously been linked to the role. But Jolie is too much “Hollywood” for her to be for me, the ideal candidate. Gadot has more geek cred than she does paparazzi bait potential.
My real concern, though, is the Wolfman. Rumors were that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was supposed to play the role. Friends, we must not let this happen. Even if the DARK UNIVERSE isn’t dead already, this boneheaded casting choice would damn sure kill it. Even Wonder Woman wouldn’t be able to salvage it.
