werewolf, werewolves and lycans

IFC Midnight’s production of Fritz Bohm’s German-language shocker WILDLING is currently available on video-on-demand. I haven’t seen it yet, so I can’t tell you if it’s good or not. I can tell you that, based on what I’ve heard (actually read) about it, it SOUNDS good. And based on this, the official trailer, and on this clip, here, it LOOKS good. I WANT it to be good.

What IS the Wildling? We know that his teeth are sharp and so are his nails. We know that he eats children. And, based on what you’ve just seen if you watched those videos, “he” may not be a “he” at all. One thing that we CAN say for sure: WILDLING is a werewolf movie. And that is a cause for celebration.

Here’s the official synopsis: “The film follows Anna (Bel Powley), a woman who spent her entire childhood locked in the attic, under the care of a mysterious man she only knows as Daddy (Brad Dourif). Anna is scared to death of a creature he calls the Wildling, a child-eating monster that roams outside. After a small-town sheriff Ellen Cooper (Liv Tyler) frees Anna and helps her start a new life, her childhood nightmares of the Wildling return, disrupting the possibility of a normal life.”
