What Would Happen if Werewolves Were Discovered?

There is a question I often ask authors when I am doing interviews, a question that has nothing to do with their book, but one that’s fun to ask in spite of that (cliché interviews are SO boring).  Every author has given me a different, yet fantastic, answer so far, and I love hearing every opinion on it – including yours. Which is why it’s now your turn Dear Readers, your turn to let your voice be heard! As enjoyable as it is to ask authors questions, I love hearing from you guys too, so here’s a question for you – If werewolves were discovered to exist today, do you think our society would accept them or try to destroy them?

Here are a few past answers from a couple of authors I have interviewed:

“Our society has enough trouble dealing with the relatively minor differences between human beings. If a werewolf turned up on Main Street, you can bet the silver bullets would be flying.” – Lisa Hendrix, author of The Immortal Brotherhood series

“I think the first reaction would be to destroy them. Esp. down south. I can see a series of books that explores racism this way, in a lot similar to the way True Blood uses Vampires to talk about homosexuality.” – Paul Jessup, author of Werewolves

“Depends on how many people they’re eating.” – S. Andrew Swann, author of The Wolfbreed series

Now it’s your turn, what do you think? If werewolves were discovered to exist today, do you think our society would accept them or try to destroy them?

Personally, I feel that we would destroy them, or at least try to. As Lisa said, we have a hard enough time dealing with minor differences, I can’t imagine how bad it would be if something as big as actual horror movie werewolves existed.

  1. There would be three classes sort of. Those that are like Isabella Swan in Twilight, except in love with werewolves. Thats the first class. The other class would be those that would be yelling and beating a zombie to death with baseball bats in the Apacolypse, except with silver bullets and werewolves. And finally, the middle class. They can stand the werewolves, they don’t love werewolves, but they don’t hate them. They just feel uncomftrable. Depending on which type is the most common would determine the outcome.

  2. i think we will try to kill them even though they may try to help us with our socitey ,but we would not care becaues a war against the land will start anyway. we like to go to war when there is no need because we do not trust anyone

    1. Well if werewolves existed we Obviously we try to destroy them and I know they we a lot of wars or conflicts between human. And beast and there Probably be tanks machine nests and Infantry attacking main forces on the werewolf side and I think and this is just my Opinion but the most commonly use warfare by bothsides will probably be trench warfare and mobile warfare between these conflicts and that is my opinion if humans went into conflict between werewolves and if humans accept werewolves into our lands the werewolf will probably take out us a country at a time and turning everyone human into werewolves

  3. In every story there is a good guy, and a bad guy. So in this case people might think their the bad guys, and we’re the good guys. Well that’s a completely different case. In this case its between all werewolves. Not between werewolves and humans. So in every story there is a hero and a villain. Well people might not see that we all have differences and alikeness. But not all werewolves are bad. Some are good but on the other hand some are bad. But hopefully we can destroy bad ones, and ONLY bad ones.

  4. i’m just wanted to say this, silver doesn’t affect werewolves, neither does holy water or crosses. that is a myth. saying that myth is about the same as saying werewolves are monsters controlled by bloodlust. the way that myth came up is when people thought werewolves where “monsters” or “demons”. silver, holy water and crosses are used to get rid of demons. werewolves are not monsters nor demons. just wanted to say that to all the people who believe that myth.

  5. what would happen if werewolves where discovered….. let me just say this, the person who let us be discovered would be…. dead…. because so many werewolves would be so very angry at that person, and after that people would start becoming “werewolf hunters” and to the people that weren’t werewolves they would see it as basically…. start killing all werewolves (or just normal people like them) and our kind would go extinct.

  6. Everyone here has a good point. I personally would actually be really happy if it went public that we exist. Sure, we needed to go into hiding once for our own protection, but now the secrets just hurt both species and tear families and friendships apart. I say all supernatural creatures need to go public. We need to show humans that while we’re different, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. And honestly, how much worse could it be for us than it has been for gay people? I mean, sure, things have been pretty bad for them but the thing is, we have an advantage LGBTQ people never did: the pack bond. It’s our instinct to look out for those we care about and to protect them. Together, we can use that to get through anything that comes our way. Besides, Matthew 19:26 – With God, all things are possible. God will see to it, I can tell you from experience, that no matter how hopeless things will seem at first, we WILL be okay, and, hey, maybe we can even reign in a new age of peace between arcane creatures and humans.

    1. Warewolfs are creatures of power and are beautiful and should be fearless and proud of the mark one day I WILL BE ONE!! And I will embrace it not as a curse but as the gift it is

  7. I’m willing to go for it and reveal myself to the world. I hate lying, especially to those I love, and it’s made worse by the fact that I’ve developed pack instincts toward many of my human friends. I don’t want to lie to my pack, and McKinnley, I’m sure you know how I feel. I want to reveal myself, but I won’t unless I know the rest of you are behind me. Whether or not we go public, we all need to be united on this. Please reply to this comment if you agree, everyone.

  8. Stay hiddin , like the freeks you are , people will hunt you down and make a skin lamp out of you and some fuzzy slippers and great party jokes when the pull out your stuffed penis and laugh ,

    1. Personally, when I was a kid I saw two pairs of glowing red eyes in the hallway outside my bedroom door. It was late and me being a typical little 8 year old pulled the covers over my head. Nothing happened. Nothing attacked me, but for some reason, ever since then, I have been fascinated with werewolves, even though I only saw the eyes. I am 38 now….That was in Ohio. Now I live in Florida. I think it would be amazing if they were real.

    1. Personally I hate that people think that we’re monsters and that we don’t belong in there world. But we r what we r and r proud of it!

  9. If a warewolf was discovered Id hunt him down an wait till he/she was in human form and have um turn me

  10. Werewolves are real ok everyone get over it and stop talking about them because they are a lot wears then they sound they will kill you

  11. Us werewolves are monsters but some of us like me can control the wolf and I can turn at will and if any werewolf try’s to kill a human I will kill that werewolf

  12. If werewolves were discovered, people would try to kill us all for money or they would try to kill us because they might think we might eat them all.

  13. Guys im sorry i never was there when you needed help of becoming a werewolf… I’m a werewolf, i was a human before with some symptoms like having strenght on full moon, sleeping late, having dreams, but i fully transitioned in january 2014 can’t remember the day but it was full moon i had to do some spell and cut my hand for some little blood….

  14. Hard to say.. Though I’d honestly like to test that myth saying they can turn another person into one by biting them. Not to mention seeing if they could speak, understand human language, or prove me wrong about humans not being able to metamorphose into animals.

  15. What i think is in the time that werewolves has been discoveryed that mean there is already people getting infected and turn into werewolves and the war of human and werewolves has started and werewolves starts to learnning and have their own intelegince

  16. I think that if they were discovered there would be people trying to kill them. There would be some who would try and reach out to them but it would be to risky to meet in public. The government would become involved if they hadn’t already. Humans have spent a millinium working there way up to the top of the food chain. And if anything more powerful came along there would be no peace, not with today’s society.

  17. Not all werewolfs are same, some may get only the thirst for flesh some may change and some may have different behaviours , like raise in temperature, i am dealing with two of only the mentioned above, but still they do exist and they know they’re not accepted in the society thats the reason of hiding, but there are occasions that some dumbass would reveale it to pubilc and not always you’re on your camera to record it

  18. Really all you need if werewolves are 11 days of food and a silver spray and some 12 days of water and a 3.2 mm 50 cal machine gun with a storage case of 5000000 silver bullets
