Wereworld

I know I write about books a lot (I love them) but a reader mentioned this series to me and after looking into it I had to share with the rest of you. Wereworld is a young adult series written by the famous Curtis Jobling. The series was originally published over in the UK and is coming soon to the US. So far there are two books published, however us folks here in the US won’t be able to buy the first in the series, Rise of the Wolf, until September 20. If you want the first two books and don’t want to wait, you can always import them from England, but that’ll cost a whole lot (it is tempting since the British cover is way better). Anyway, here’s the plot info for the first book in the series:

“When the air is clear, sixteen year-old Drew Ferran can pick up the scent of a predator.

When the moon breaks through the clouds, a terrifying fever grips him.

And when a vicious beast invades his home, his gums begin to tear, his fingers become claws, and Drew transforms . . .

Forced to flee the family he loves, Drew seeks refuge in the most godforsaken parts of Lyssia. But when he is captured by Lord Bergan’s men, Drew must prove he is not the enemy.

Can Drew battle the werecreatures determined to destroy him – and master the animal within?”

Remember that post I did recently on what I want in a werewolf book? Yeah, looks like I got part of that wish list in this book! A werewolf fantasy series! Woo! I totally plan on buying this book once it comes stateside. It looks awesome. What do you guys think?

Buy the UK version HERE.
And pre-order the US version HERE.

(FYI, if you’re curious about the Wereworld image I used on the main page, well, that is the original American Wereworld cover. However, the publisher axed that image and went with the blah green one you can see on Amazon. I liked the original US one better, even better than the original UK cover.)

  1. In Canada it is here and I got it from the library. I was filled with hope too bit was disappointed. The main problem I think it is aimed at a younger audience. I did not finish it.

    1. Aww. I love all books, especially children books (I’m actually reading one now) so I will still give the series a shot :)

  3. You should check out a book called “shiver” by Maggie Stiefvater, its a great book so far and one of the many things I love about the book is that the perspective changes throughout the story, one minute its the girl’s point of view then the next its the werewolf’s point of view.

  4. I don’t think that these books CAN be as good as the Silver Wolf series. The author writes alot about were-creaures, and I have like 8 of her books. She’s Anne Rice’s sister too, so there’s the whole werewolf/vampire thing, too.

    1. This Wereworld series is for children, unlike the Silver Wolf series which is for adults. It’s like comparing apples and oranges. Plus you can’t say a book is bad until you have actually read it :)

  5. Yay yunno I read it and i actually kind of liked it. I mean aside from the fact the poor kid was beaten or tortured every other chapter, the fact there were other were-critters everywhere was kind of refreshing. Plus the whole were-thing was actually honored. like theyre ROYALTY instead of being hated or burned at the stake. It reminded me of eragon for some reason and i think it will do well. I dont know, its not overly romantic like twilight or shiver. (i kind of wish they left shiver at the first book, the sequels made me sad)and its not a harlequin fail either. Im looking forward to rise of the lions. :) Long Live the Wolf!
