This is strictly a personal preference, but I have the feeling a lot of you fine folks can get behind this. Dogman encounters seem to be getting more and more press, as, it would seem, the number of sightings getting reported has increased. (Whether or not these encounters are actually happening is another matter altogether.) I propose that we do away with this “Dogman” designation. Likewise the “Devil Monkey” moniker. (This last is sometimes used because the cryptids are said to resemble giant evil monkeys; specifically they are said to look somewhat like baboons, which, with their elongated snouts, do have a somewhat canine appearance. As no other monkeys share this characteristic, though, calling these creatures “Devil Monkeys” is not really accurate.)
I say, let us just call them what they are: werewolves. If it walks around on two legs, which these creatures are said to do, and if it is covered with hair or fur, and if it has a canine-like or wolf-like head…it’s a werewolf. That’s the image that immediately comes to mind when you hear the word “werewolf”. It doesn’t matter if these creatures were ever human. (I suspect they were not.) If it looks like a werewolf and it snarls like a werewolf, then it’s a werewolf. Let’s call them that.
