Werewolves in Unexpected Places

It’s a true rarity, as I’ve stated before, when you see me making mention of anything pertaining to what I call “tabloid culture” unless it is done in mocking. There are exceptions, though, and this week finds me concerning myself with the new song from Selena Gomez, titled “Wolves.” I know some of you will be surprised that I even know who Selena Gomez is, much less have heard any of her music. How’d that happen? You see, my lovely better half likes to play the radio while she takes her showers in the morning, and in order to hear it above the running water she cranks it to eardrum-perforating levels. I cannot help but hear, while brushing my teeth, the occasional piece of what passes for music these days. That’s how I learned about “Wolves.” But do please consider the following lyrics: “I’ve been running through the jungle; I’ve been running with the wolves; to get to you, to get to you. I’ve been down the darkest alleys; Saw the dark side of the moon; to get to you, to get to you” Props to her for mentioning the moon in a song featuring wolves, but wolves do not really inhabit jungles. “Jungle” is another term for “rainforest,” and wolves are not endemic to the latter. And yes, I’m probably putting way too much thought into it, but that’s what I get paid for.

On a completely unrelated subject, does this flower not look like a werewolf to you?
