Werewolf Role-Playing Games

If you’re a fan of werewolves and tabletop role-playing games, then you totally need to give the list below a look. If you have no idea what I am talking about then let me fill you in. Tabletop rpgs are role-playing games centered on a fantasy world that players enter through their imaginations. Players tell the story as they play the game, relying on dice to make key choices and to trigger events. I’m making it sound pretty simple, but it’s actually incredibly complicated… and addictive.

Here’s a list of some of the best known werewolf rpgs out there:

Werewolf: The Apocalypse

This is hands down the best known and most popular of all werewolf rpgs. In this White Wolf classic, players take on the role of werewolves known as Garou. The Garou’s job is to protect Gaia, or Mother Earth, from the power of the Wyrm in order to stop the apocalypse from coming. This rpg was eventually retired, its successor title was Werewolf: The Forsaken.

Werewolf: The Forsaken
As I mentioned above, this is the White Wolf rpg that came after Werewolf: The Apocalypse. In this rpg Players portray the Forsaken, werewolves (Uratha) whose duty is to maintain the balance between the spirit realms and the physical world.

NightLife
This is one of the lesser know rpgs, but it’s one full of urban monsters, which earns it points. The game is based on the punk scene and set in New York City, where the Kin live and hunt in the shadows the same as they have for centuries. Players can be Vampyres, Werewolves, Ghosts, Daemons, Wyghts (animate corpses), Inuits (Native American trickster spirits) or Animates.

Werewolf: The Wild West
Yup, another White Wolf game. This one is a historical version of Werewolf: The Apocalypse set in the American West. In the game it is referred to as the “Savage West.”  All 13 Garou tribes from The Apocalypse are represented in Wild West and are almost identical to their modern counterparts. The three tribes that are most different from their previous incarnations are the Uktena, Wendigo, and Glass Walkers.

If there are any other werewolf rpgs out there you guys love, feel free to share them with us.

  1. Look, this is not who we are! And yes it is I, Lord Shadow, the Leader or the Alpha of the werewolves. We not demons! It mite seem like it, but we aren’t. Respect us for who we are. I’m done with this, being called a demon or King of the demons. I know ask kindly for you to stop making us look like demons. Everyone who saw this site, don’t believe it. I know what werewolves are, I was born one. You mite think I am a fail right now, think what you want. It mite seem like the werewolves are fake, they aren’t! We will stand up for what is ours until people respect us for who we are. Not Demons. We are not from “hell”! Look, as I said, the trusting werewolves of my pack will find out about this and will comment about it.
    Thank you for reading,
