Werewolf-ology

This could be fun. The fictitious organization FVZA, or the Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency, has released some pertinent data concerning werewolves. ‘Cause, fer realz, if you live in a world where zombies and vampires are a problem that must be dealt with, it’s a safe bet you’re gonna have some werewolf issues, too. Haven’t you noticed that where one group of creatures exists you tend to find the others not too far removed? They all just seem to go together. They’re not all that different, after all. Zombies are reanimated corpses. So are vampires. The latter just dress better and smell better, usually. And vampires can shapeshift into wolves, which is the ambit of werewolves. It’s just that lycanthropes tend not to be dead. See, thin distinctions at best.

So what does the FVZA say concerning werewolves? First off, the condition is viral, caused by the Lupine parvovirus, or LPV. The “Science” here is actually pretty detailed and plausible-ish. Werewolves originated, per this study, 40,000 years ago in Eurasia, and it was werewolves that killed off the Neanderthals. Again, sounds feasible. And by including information on the possible real-world werewolf, the Beast of Bray Road, the writers further obfuscate the barrier between the fictitious and the literal. A lot of work has been put into this project, and that it was a labor of love is obvious. Well played, FVZA. (And hey, they even have a Paypal link so you can make donations!)
