I’ve written about the Lykoi, or “werewolf kitten,” before, but they’re getting coverage in the news again, so for those who might have missed it the first time, here’s the skinny on these cute (depending on who you ask) little feline lycanthropes. They are the result of selective breeding processes, and, as there are some nimrods out there who actually believe this, it must be said that they are NOT in any way related to real wolves. They are NOT created by gene-splicing the DNA of a wolf with that of el gato. They are 100% pure cat. They just happen to look like werewolves. A little. If you squint.
Okay, they DO sorta resemble Henry Hull in the classic THE WEREWOLF OF LONDON. And since they are cats, they probably share a little bit of his lycanthropic personality. They’d probably maul you to death and eat you if they could. But, again, they’re cats, so they can’t. All they can do is scratch up your furniture and give you dirty looks, same as with any cat. They ARE kind of cute, though, don’t you think? When they aren’t shedding most of their fur and becoming almost totally bald, that is.
