Werewolf has been around forever; whether you’re playing the party game twist, with live-action role playing, and running around in the dark, or the creepy Internet version, –you know, the one that inspired the horrible movie ‘Cry Wolf’. There are also various board and card games out there; the latest actually, is ‘Werewolf – Curse of Pandora.’ The crazy thing is, you can play it on the iPhone and the iPad! Personally, the last thing I’d want to do is get a bunch of drunk party-goers gathered around something as expensive as an iPad, –but you know, kids will be kids.
For those that have never played, basically, it’s kill or be killed. There are two teams, –Werewolves, or just one Werewolf, and the Villagers. The Villagers have a whole bunch of different character options, many customizable with the new app. It’s live action role playing at its most ancient. Some of the variations are ‘Mafia’ or ‘Assassin’. Anyway, with Werewolf – Curse of Pandora, there’s no need to make your own cards, or carry them around with you; the app keeps track of everything.
It sounds like a blast; while the villagers are busy trying to discover the werewolf, dropping dead one at a time, the werewolf wreaks havoc in secret. The idea of the game is to learn his/her identity and stop hi before he eats all the villagers. Would I buy the iPad just to play this game? Probably not, considering it’s free if it’s being role-played with friends. On the other hand, if you already have an iPad, Werewolf – Curse of Pandora is only $0.99 from the AppStore.
