Werewolf Cupcakes

Damn, too bad we didn’t find these before Halloween! But they’ll still be a great treat and will make for lots of howls from any beast lovers in your house. Here’s how to make some delicious and scary-looking werewolf cupcakes! What you’ll need is: a box of cake mix; red mini M&M’s for the eyes; Regular brown M&M’s for the nose; mini marshmallows; red gum drops that have been rolled out flat; white icing; milk and dark chocolate icing (the prepared kind in a can.)

1.) Buy any flavor of cake mix that you like and prepare it as you normally would. Instead of pouring the batter into a cake pan, pour the batter into a cupcake tray and bake as normal.

2.) When the cupcakes have finished cooling, you can then start the great dog decorating! Start by lightly coating each cupcake with a thin layer of icing, either kind is fine.

3.) Place the milk chocolate icing in a piping bag. Then place the dark chocolate on top of the milk chocolate in the same bag. You don’t want to combine the two icings as it’s having two slightly different colors makes for the fur effect and will really make your werewolf come to life.

4.) Place a mini marshmallow in the center of the cupcake. Start from the top of the cupcake and working your way down to the cupcake wrapper, ice the entire top of the cupcake. While you are icing, make swirly line coming out from the center of the cupcake, and leaving them slightly over the edges, trying to get the end of the ‘fur’ to curl slightly up. This is the hardest part of making the cupcakes.

5.) Once your cupcakes are all iced, use two small red M&M’s for the eyes. Place them into the icing so that the sides are the first to cut into the frosting. Do not lay them flat. Having only slits for eyes will make the werewolves look more real.

6.) Place a brown M&M flat against the mini marshmallow for the wolf’s nose. Then lay the flattened gum drop just underneath the nose. Finally, using some white icing, draw werewolf teeth around the mouth where the gum drop is.

Serve these cupcakes at your next big bash and watch as the dogs go wild for them!
