There are a couple of lycanthropic cinematic projects—i.e. werewolf movies—coming up that I am excited about. Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive trailer for HUNTER’S MOON starring Thomas Jane, my favorite of Marvel’s Punishers (despite the fact that they screwed his origin all to hell) and the guy who got poor Dirk Diggler into trouble in BOOGIE NIGHTS. (He also has some Horror cred, having starred in THE PREDATOR—which he’d probably like for us to forget—THE MIST and the delightful DEEP BLUE SEA.) The trailer looks promising. Here is the premise: “When their parents leave town, three teenage girls decide to throw a party in their new country home. But when a gang of dangerous local boys with sinister intentions turn up, the women are forced to not only defend themselves from the evil inside of the house, but an unseen bloodthirsty predator that is hunting them one by one outside of the house.” HUNTER’S MOON will be released on DVD and video on March 24.
There’s also a French film entitled TEDDY that’s looking for a distributor. All we have to go on for this one is a single image, and the premise: “Twentysomething Teddy lives in a foster home and works as a temp in a massage parlor. Rebecca, his girlfriend, will soon graduate. A scorching hot summer begins. But Teddy is scratched by a beast in the woods: the wolf that local angry farmers have been hunting for months. As weeks go by, animal compulsions soon start to overcome the young man…” That sounds hokey as hell, honestly, but it could still be fun. And maybe some of the drama got lost in translation.
