At last we’re getting a werewolf console game! Soon werewolves will be coming to your Wii, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Yay! Don’t get me wrong, those browser games are all well and good but it’s time for a bigger game. The Grinder is a first-person shooter video game in development by High Voltage Software and is scheduled for release in 2011.
The Grinder is set in an alternate universe where supernatural creatures such as vampires, zombies and werewolves exist. Hector, Doc, Miko and AJ are a couple monster hunters that are hired by a mysterious organization called “Book” to exterminate these fiendish threats all while investigating the source of the outbreak. Kickass!
In The Grinder you get to play as one of those four characters, each one has their own unique attributes and abilities which can be upgraded as the game progresses. You will also be able to use an assortment of different skills to defeat your foes. On top of that you have access to a large assortment of weapons, some of which can be dual wielded. Unfortunately you can’t play as a werewolf since it’s your job to kill them, but at least you’re killing vampires too.
The Grinder was originally set to come out this past year just for the Wii, but they pushed the release date back so that they can make versions for PC, PS3 and the 360. One of the few extras it that the game supports Wii MotionPlus, which is good for you Wii fans. It has an online multiplayer mode which will make use of the Wii Speak peripheral. As for the online mode, each level can be played cooperatively with support of up to four players simultaneously.
Since they decided to go all out and make The Grinder available on all multiple platforms we have to wait much longer for the game. Grrr! It was originally set to come out this past holiday season, but is now set to come out around Halloween in 2011, which is actually the perfect time for a horror game.
