Underworld: Awakening, the fourth and most successful of the Underworld franchise (grossing over $150 million worldwide), is coming to DVD, Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray on April 24. Yay! Along with watching all of the vampire on lycan action, viewers also get a TON of kickass special features. Check out the details below!
“UNDERWORLD AWAKENING brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D.
Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.”
Sadly, the DVD will only come with the filmmakers’ commentary, and nothing else. Lame! But the Blu-ray, however, comes packed full of goodies. Check them out below:
- Cracking the Underworld: Picture-in-Picture Experience
- Filmmakers’ Commentary
- Selene Rises
- Casting the Future of Underworld
- Resuming the Action
- Building a Better Lycan
- Awakening a Franchise, Building a Brutal New World
- Blooper Reel
- “Heavy Prey” Music Video by Lacey Sturm feat. Geno Lenardo
Those are awesome, I really wish they had been included in the DVD as well. Oh well.
Who here is picking up a copy of Underworld: Awakening? I’m planning on it myself since I never got the chance to see it in theaters and I adore the Underworld franchise.

Oh ya I know I will be getting a copy of this asap.
You know I’m getting a copy. The giant Lycan that Selene battles towards the end of the movie is one of the best fighting sequences of the whole movie.
“Building a Better Lycan”
Yeah right. I can only say: “Skip the movie.”
You will miss nothing.
You are the only one. Most people loved the movie. But to each their own.
And here you are wrong, again. From those of my friends and colleagues who saw it they all thought it to be average at best.
The film had next to nothing to do with the previous ones and its werewolves were lamer than ever. Not to mention its obvious message of sexism and unimaginative story. It was only about special effects and gore.
