TWIN PEAKS: “I’ll see you in 25 years”?

David Lynch has now confirmed, on more than one occasion, that he might consider giving us more TWIN PEAKS, but that a season four would take years to make. “It took me four and a half years to write and film THIS season,” he said. That I believe. What I don’t believe is that the sly old fox hasn’t decided yet whether or not to continue the narrative from the beloved series. I think he’s already working on it. I do, however, expect it will take some time before it gets to us. Not 25 years. Lynch is in his seventies. He’s a mad genius, yes, but I don’t think he’s quite crazy enough to think he can write and direct season four at nearly a hundred years of age!

That being said, don’t be surprised if the next installment of the series, whenever we see it, arrives at a time vested by Lynch with some sort of meaning. It won’t be random.

In other TWIN PEAKS news, Lynch is refusing to tell fans what happened to Audrey Horne. “What matters is what YOU believe happened. That’s the whole thing. There are lots of things in life, and we wonder about them, and we have to come to our own conclusions. You can, for example, read a book that raises a series of questions, and you want to talk to the author, but he died a hundred years ago. That’s why everything is up to you.” Or, alternately, he won’t tell us because he doesn’t want to ruin the surprise for when he DOES.

Crazy bastard. I love that guy.
