TV Guide’s Top Werewolves
That recent Super Blood Wolf Moon or Super Wolf Blood Moon or Blood Wolf Super Moon or some variation thereupon inspired the folks over at TV Guide to put together a listing of the top werewolves to appear on television. Let’s take a look at them and see if we agree, shall we? The werewolf on ONCE UPON A TIME was both Red Riding Hood *and* the Big Bad Wolf? Apparently. I never watched the show. I never watched LEGACIES either, or BITTEN. I’m not sure I’d ever even heard of them. I am familiar with Oz from BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, though. Let’s see, SHADOWHUNTERS? Nope. THE ORIGINALS? Isn’t that a spin-off of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES? Um, *hell* no. LOST GIRL, another SHADOWHUNTERS, TEEN WOLF, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES (I already said hell-to-the-nuh-uh on that one), and TEEN WOLF again.
Okay, this compilation blows. Hard. Like earnestly trying to inflate a car tire with your mouth hard. Had to have been written by a culturally impoverished Millennial. No mention at all of the werewolf on DARK SHADOWS (the original series). And no mention of the beast from Fox’s short-lived WEREWOLF back in the 80s, the one designed by Rick Baker. If the goal here was to chronicle the werewolves that made the most impression or were the most visually striking, then it fell far short of the mark. “Over in the next county” far of the mark.
