Tim Burton’s New Movie Has Werewolves

Ok, honestly, I don’t usually care much about what Tim Burton does because it’s all the same – same style, same actors, same vibe… blah blah the same. However, his latest film project, Frankenweenie, caught my eye after seeing a photo of the movie. Yeah, it’s the same old creepy cartoon style, BUT, there’s a werewolf! Now he has my attention… at least for the next 45 seconds.

In Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, a young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences. How werewolves play into the story is unknown at this point, but as you can see in the photo below, there is a werewolf.

See! Werewolf!

Anyway, here are more details of the film:

“A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, ‘Frankenweenie’ will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.”

The voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films (shock shock): Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!) and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), while Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer were later added. Over 200 puppets and sets were created for the film, and that several of the character names—Victor, Elsa Van Helsing, Edgar “E” Gore and Mr. Burgermeister— were inspired by classic horror films.

Check out two more photos from the film (no werewolves though, boo!):

Frankenweenie will hit theaters October 5, 2012 from Walt Disney Pictures.

What do you think about Burton’s latest project? What do you think is up with the werewolf?

  1. No, no no no no no no. This movie looks to rediculous. it doesnt deserve to have a werewolf. Tim Burton can burn in H311.

  2. I like Burtons films. I do not mind the same vibe and styles since he is the only one that does it. I will be watching this. As for the werewolf I have no idea where to start.
