The Worst Werewolf Article Ever Written?
Not this one that you’re reading. This one, at the end of this link. Down the rabbit hole. My friend and fellow Gilles de Rais scholar Margot Juby sent this one to me. (As she lives in the area, relatively speaking, she also keeps me apprised of Ol’ Stinker sightings.) To be fair, I will concede that it is possible that English is not the first language of the writer. Were I to try to write something in Spanish, which I wouldn’t, the results would be laughable. It could be that, and if that’s the case, I won’t too much make fun of the author for the grammatical mistakes, and I’ll even cut her some slack for her poor scholarship. That doesn’t mean I can’t point out a few of the mistakes for your enjoyment.
The picture used for accused werewolf Gilles Garnier is actually of Gilles de Rais. THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT MEN. And that picture of Peter Stubbe, I think is Montague Summers, the demonologist, self-ordained priest, and author. THERE ARE NO PHOTOGRAPHS OF PETER STUBBE–since photography hadn’t been invented yet! Also, there was NO movie entitled FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WEREWOLF. Might she mean FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN?
I can’t. I’m done. If you want to read the whole article–if you can force yourself–you have a stronger stomach than I. To quote Charlie Brown: “Good grief!”
