The Werewolf Mouse

This seems too good to be true, but it’s vouchsafed by National Geographic so it must be for real. There is a mouse called the Werewolf Mouse—or the “Grasshopper Mouse” if you prefer its more prosaic appellation—and it is, pound for pound, the most badass animal on the face of the earth. This little beast is pure carnivore, unlike most rodents, and it hunts and kills animals larger than itself, including venomous centipedes and scorpions. What’s more, it is immune to scorpion venom. When it gets stung by a scorpion, its little furry body transforms the venom into a pain suppressor! And then once it has finished off its prey it, like any good werewolf, HOWLS AT THE MOON! Like Tarzan giving the victory cry of the Great Bull Ape after he has made a kill. If the howl of this miniature monstrosity sounds high-pitched and chirpy to our ears, it is only because we don’t possess ears capable of appreciating it.

Imagine if this mouse was as large as a wolf, or one of the RUSes from THE PRINCESS BRIDE. *Now* tell me that ain’t scary! If the Werewolf Mouse were lion-sized, the lion might no longer be the king of the beasts.

I think I may have a new favorite animal.
