The “Werewolf” Mikhail Popkov is Supported By His Family Despite Confession

The ‘Werewolf’ serial killer used axes, knives and screwdrivers to murder women in a bid to ‘cleanse’ his town of prostitutes

The serial killer known as the “Werewolf” –for his intensely brutal murders, including decapitation, removal of the heart, murder with an axe, among others, of 22 women, –has a very supportive family. His daughter, his wife, and his mother all agree that there’s no way he could be a serial killer. Despite the fact that his detailed confession not only describes his motives, if not his methods, for killing all the women. There was also DNA evidence, and that was after nearly every single police officer in his precinct had been screened.

His daughter wants to study to be a criminologist so she can prove her father’s innocence, his wife says if he was released, that he could just go right on living there as normal. His mother doesn’t believe he did anything, but then expresses minimal doubt by asking why he would do such a thing… which he later addresses by confessing to killing the women, and why he eventually stopped, –he caught a venereal disease, and lost the urge to rape and murder women after he became impotent because of the complications with the disease.
