In regards to the second episode of season two, and the cow carcass left to decompose out in the open, untouched by varmints and scavengers, there are those online who are claiming it isn’t the same cow we saw from last season, dead of “stress-induced pneumonia” after the UFO sighting. That cow was black, and the carcass seen on this week’s episode was…not. More of a brown color. “They switched cows!” some are clamoring. I wondered about it myself. But looking over the footage again, it does seem the cow’s hide was black on bottom, on the side facing the ground. It’s possible, then, that the skin just got bleached by the scalding desert sun in the year or so it has lain out.

If it *is* a different cow, you’d have to wonder why, exactly, they’d make the switch. We could surmise it was because the black cow *was* feasted upon by predators, just like would be expected. Where’d the brown cow come from, then? It also died on the property, or else they brought in a dead cow from elsewhere. But this theoretical second cow was *not* eaten by scavengers, and *that* constitutes the strangeness of the matter. Why would they not just say that another cow that died on the property had been left untouched by scavengers? That would give them not one anomaly but two, the black cow that died of mysterious circumstances and then the theoretical other cow that was avoided by scavengers. It would seem to me that it would be better for the producers to have two different cows, so it doesn’t make that much sense that they’d fib about it and claim two cows were in fact one. So either the producer of the show is kinda stupid and totally missed an opportunity, or else it is the same cow after all, just with the color of its skin faded by the sun.
