The Man Inside
Either way it’s creepy as hell. Either fourteen-year-old Donovan Nicholas is an imaginative, probably sociopathic killer, he’s psychotic, or he’s demonically possessed. When he murdered his common-law mother, he told police that the crime had been committed by “the person inside.” This inner, separate personality shot and stabbed forty-year-old Heidi Fay Taylor to death, then Nicholas called 911 to report it. He said the inner entity just “snapped.”
Is this bullshit, him trying to finagle a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity defense? Does he suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder, aka multiple personalities, like the character in M. Night Shyamalan’s SPLIT? Or is something else going on? Said the teen murderer: “It wasn’t me who, who, it wasn’t me who killed her. It was Jeff…He sometimes takes control and I have no control. I have no control over him. It’s not fair…I didn’t…didn’t want to kill her. I hate Jeff so much. He’s…going to make me die in prison…” Like I said, creepy, huh? What, exactly, is this “Jeff” persona?
