The Log Lady Documentary
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year this week since the third season of TWIN PEAKS debuted on Showtime. Where does the time go? We had to wait 25 years for that season, and it was worth it, even though it left us all panting for more. TWIN PEAKS is kinda like drugs. It really does a number on you, really puts you through the ringer, yet you just can’t get enough of it. Hopefully as I sit typing this article, David Lynch is sitting behind his desk working on that “curtain call” Agent Cooper hinted at in the season finale.
While we wait, there is a new documentary in the works, dedicated to the Log Lady, Catherine Coulson, who passed away in 2015 just four days after filming her final scene for TWIN PEAKS. (Her goodbye scene with Deputy Hawk is one of the most powerful, heartbreaking, and graceful performances I’ve ever seen.) A Kickstarter campaign is underway to raise funds for the documentary, to be titled I KNOW CATHERINE, THE LOG LADY, which will be directed by Richard Green, a collaborator with David Lynch who starred in MULHOLLAND DRIVE. As funding is secured, the Log turns golden, bit by bit.
“The stars turn and a time presents itself.”
