The Devil Has Left the Building

I’ve mentioned before how I’ve started watching DAYS OF OUR LIVES once I found out the Devil had returned as a regular character. I have loved every ridiculous minute of it, too. Sure there have been some days when ol’ Scratch didn’t show up at all. Those days were disappointing. But the times when he was onscreen more than made up for the absences. Now it’s looking like they may have written him out of the show. Tripp, the leading man who looks like a frat boy, sacrificed himself to get the Devil out of Allie. In a most flagrant ripoff of the ending of THE EXORCIST the possessed Tripp then jumped out a window. Not to worry, though, because a former DAYS heartthrob (or so I was told), who was killed off some time back, returned as an angel to bring Tripp back to life again. After everyone had had sufficient time to grieve over him, naturally. Talk about a Deus ex Machina. If you’re going to use the Devil as a recurring character, though, one whose presence in the town is a given, it’s hard to go too far and cross over the stupid line. And let’s be honest; the only reason I’m watching this show is because of its embracing of the stupid.

The Devil had better not be gone for good, because if he’s gone, so am I.
