I don’t have Shudder so alas I will miss this one, but you should check it out. The CREEPSHOW HOLIDAY SPECIAL will debut on the streaming service on December 18th, and will feature as one of the series’ anthology pieces a special hour-long episode called “Shapeshifters Anonymous”, in which “an anxious man…fearing he is a murderer…searches for answers for his ‘unique condition’ from an unusual support group.” In other words, werewolves. The piece is an adaptation of a story by J.A. Konrath by CREEPSHOW-runner (see what I did, there?) Greg Nicotero. You can check out the trailer by clicking here and check out the sweet artwork for the special by scrolling up. Wish I could watch it, but even if I could livestream (which I can’t) I probably wouldn’t take out a Shudder subscription for just this one episode. I’ll just wait for it to show up on DVD. Maybe by next Christmas.
I’m a little confused, though. Since the entirety of the program will be taken up by “Shapeshifters Anonymous”, why bother using that title at all? Doesn’t THE CREEPSHOW HOLIDAY SPECIAL suffice? Hmm, perhaps they’re intending this thing to become an annual event. In that case, “Shapeshifters Anonymous” would just be the first installment. I’m good with that.
