The Chainsaw Awards—The Results Are In!

I didn’t vote in this year’s Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. I could have. I received my “ballot”. But I was conflicted. Also, I hadn’t seen all the nominees in all the categories. Granted I could have simply abstained from voting in those categories, in the interest of honesty. I’ve done that before. But I was conflicted on a couple of the bigger awards, including the biggest, the one for Best Picture. I likely would have voted for the winner, THE INVISIBLE MAN. But FREAKY was also nominated and I also loved that one, just about as much.

Here are all the winners:

Best Wide Release – The Invisible Man
Best Limited Release – Color Out of Space
Best International Film – La Llorona
Best First Feature – Come to Daddy
Best Director – Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man)
Best Series – What We Do in the Shadows
Best Streaming Premiere Movie – Host
Best Screenplay – Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man)
Best Creature FX – Dan Martin (Color Out of Space)
Best Makeup FX – Dan Martin (Possessor)
Best Score – Jim Williams (Possessor)
Best Supporting Performance – Clancy Brown (The Mortuary Collection)
Best Lead Performance – Elisabeth Moss (The Invisible Man)
Best Kill – The Invisible Man, The Dinner Scene
Achievement in Non-Fiction – “The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs”

Some good stuff, there. Congrats to all nominees and winners!
