The Accidental Werewolf

A few months back I came across The Accidental Werewolf, the first book in the Accidental Series by Dakota Cassidy, and well, it didn’t look all that spectacular. It was only available on the Kindle, it had no reviews and it was a chick romance novel – nothing special there. But today while scanning Amazon I came across this book again and was surprised to see that it had loads of excellent reviews… old reviews. Not sure if it was an Amazon glitch the first time I spotted it, but it turns out that this is actually an older book, one that was available in paperback years ago. Odd. The Accidental Werewolf and the rest of the series have blown up and now have this massive fan base. Apparently I misjudged this book because people are really loving it, and they’re loving it so much that The Accidental Werewolf is going back to print in November. Now all of the fans can get a brand new paperback copy.

Here’s the book description:

“When Marty Andrews gets bitten by a mangy mutt while walking her teacup poodle, her blond hair darkens, the hair on her legs starts growing at an alarming rate, and her mood swings put her dream job as a sales rep for Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics in serious jeopardy.

Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he’s a werewolf, she is now, too. Thinking Keegan Flaherty is clearly insane, Marty refuses to believe a word until a kidnapping makes her realize there’s more at stake than just her highlights. And she must put her out-of-control life in the hands of the man who makes her blood run wild in more ways than one…”

Find more info on the Accidental Series at the official website (I’m in love with the cover art for this series).

Yeah, The Accidental Werewolf sounds way too stereotypically girly for me, but there are loads of ladies that would love a book like this one. What do you guys think ? Have you read it, if so, what did you enjoy it?

  1. I’ve never even heard of this thing–and my mother’s a romance novel connoisseur! If I had more of a stomach for chick lit, though, I’d read it. The fact that it follows the usual formula sort of puts me off, but the idea of a rabid cosmetics sales-rep is amusing enough to make me curious!

Like I said, not my cup of tea, but if the characters are pulled off well (and the teacup poodle gets eaten…) it might actually be an amusing little bit of fluff!

  2. I remember coming across the title at the library and if it has werewolves I will try it. I cannot remember much about it and am pretty sure I never finished it wich tells me it is one of those formula romance types that I cannot stand and will not finish even if there are werewolves in it. It’s funny I would never really go near anything remotely hinting of a romance novel but with my strong interest in werewolf tales I have dared to try a number of books outside my usual range. I am usually then quickly reminded why I stay away from them!! I have learned a bit however as to why so many women have such skewed views about men!! (no offence and I am sure it does not apply to many here)

  3. I will also go on ot say that I think romance novels delving into horror are ruining the horror and monster genre. they take perfectly good monsters and potentially frightening scenarios and twist them into these formula romance dramas that are not only very predicatable and stereotypical no matter what little extra twists to their interpretations they may add and given the marekt tends to churn out so many they are overwhelming the market with genre romances leaving no room for true horror novels even those that do get published, any room on the bookstore and library shelves. This makes it harder to sift through titles for good stories as most then have to be ordered in sight unseen. Not the way I like to find new authors. sorry for the rant but it is only getting worse not better!!

  4. I’ve a seen few reviews on it, some saying it’s mostly for girls… So I guess I’m gonna avoid this book.
