The character Allison Argent, fans will recall, portrayed by actress Crystal Reed, is, or was, Scott McCall’s first love, a regular on the series until she was killed off in season three because Reed wanted to leave the show for greener pastures. Either those pastures weren’t so green after all, or else she foraged them for all they were worth and the fields are now fallow, because Reed is returning to the series. Hey, don’t judge her too harshly. It was her prerogative to leave and it is her prerogative to return. So those pastures might not be fallowed out after all. Maybe she just missed the show. Either way, she’s back.
Fans of the series may be disappointed, though. While death need not be a problem on a supernaturally based television show—there are numerous ways in which Allison could be brought back from the great beyond—that isn’t what’s going to happen. Instead Reed will be portraying an ancestor of Allison’s. We won’t be getting any more of that dramatic “Romeo-and-Juliet, WESTSIDE STORY-esque, star-crossed lovers” type angst. (He was a werewolf, she a member of a family of werewolf hunters.) Unless Reed decides to return full time and the writers decide to bring her character forward from the past, or else send Scott back in time. Neither of which, again, would be problems for a show like TEEN WOLF.
