Teen Wolf Remake

mjfTeenWolfWith the vampire fad hitting its peak werewolves are gaining and gaining in popularity every week. With the wolf-centric New Moon movie coming out soon (second in the Twilight Saga) and now MTV’s remake of the classic Teen Wolf, werewolves are finally getting their chance to shine.

The original Teen Wolf hit theaters in 1985 and starred Back to the Future heartthrob Michael J. Fox. The film told the story of high school student Scott Howard who, while struggling with the pains of being a normal teenager, discovers he is anything but normal when he transforms into a werewolf. Being a werewolf works out well for him though, the town (and girls) love their wolf-boy but after a while he starts to miss his once normal life.

Now it looks like MTV has decided to give this old flick another shot by remaking it into a TV series. “The Teen Wolf remake has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” said Liz Gateley, senior vice president of MTV series development, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It has more of an ‘American Werewolf in Paris’ feel to it. It’s a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques.” THR reports the MTV series will also be set in high school, but will draw more from the horror genre to explore the mythology of werewolves and will also include a romantic plotline (of course). There aren’t any set dates or much information at all yet for this new series since it is still in the start up stage but more will come in time.

With werewolves popularity on the rise look forward to much more incoming werewolf TV shows and movies. Teen Wolf’s remake is only the beginning.
