STRANGER THINGS Worth The Wait
There’s this bumper sticker I remember seeing. It said: DO YOU WANT IT FAST OR DO YOU WANT IT RIGHT? There’s truth, there. Quality takes time. This applies to creative endeavors, too. Maybe it applies MOST to creative endeavors. Take a look at the mess DC, or more specifically Warner Brothers, has gotten itself into with JUSTICE LEAGUE and its shared cinematic universe. This is what happens when you rush it, when you go for the big payoff without first laying the proper foundation. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, a rush job leads to failure. Wouldn’t you rather have something delayed, if it meant that it would be the highest quality possible? I know I would. I’m always dubious of film franchises where they crank out a new movie every year, like with SAW. Because I know that it takes time to get it right, whatever “it” happens to be.
We probably won’t get season three of STRANGER THINGS until 2019. Are you okay with that? I am. Because the creators have to write the scripts first, then take the time to properly commit the stories to film. I understand the concerns that the child actors are growing up quickly, and if they wait too long they’ll be adults. Even so, it’s best to take the time necessary to get it right, don’t you think? Much better to have season three in 2019 and it be as good as the previous two seasons than to have it next year and have it suck, don’t you agree?
