As the debut of the long-awaited, much-delayed fourth season of the massively popular livestreaming series is upon us, we’re seeing and hearing all kinds of examples of pop culture saturation. I love this kind of stuff. Usually—far too often, anyway—when you see society get all excited about something, it’s something I hate, like sports, or at best am ambivalent about. Crap like royal weddings and celebrity gossip, or some lousy TV show you couldn’t pay me to watch. (That is to say, you *could*. Absolutely. But it wouldn’t be cheap. I *can* be bought, but I’m expensive.) I love when it’s something geek-related, and I especially love STRANGER THINGS!
The “Mind Ordering” promotion from Domino’s Pizza isn’t quite as cool as the re-release of New Coke they did for the last season, or the special Baskin-Robbins Demogorgon ice cream treats, but you *can* get a vintage 80s Domino’s pizza box. The only downside is you gotta eat a pizza. Oh, damn.
What has me more jazzed than pizza, though, is the Freddy Krueger sighting in the recent image released for the forthcoming season. Robert Englund will be playing the Vecna in the show and not Freddy, but the influence of Freddy will reportedly be felt everywhere. And they even found a way to have him cameo in the show, after all!
