STRANGER THINGS Is Over!

I’m using “over” here the way it’s used in the world of professional wrestling, which developed out of Carnie-speak. To be “over” means that a performer or concept has gotten “over” with the crowds. It denotes a level of visibility and success. If a performer has developed a following or draws a strong reaction from an audience, he is “over.” If a concept works and catches on, it is “over.” It means one has attained a desired degree of reaction. It means one has hit the “big time.”

It would be hard to find anything more over at this point in history than STRANGER THINGS, the third season of which releases on Netflix on the Fourth of July. Need some examples of just how over it is? How about this STRANGER THINGS Lego set, which allows you to recreate both the “real” world of Hawkins, Indiana *and* the Upside-Down! (The little Lego Demogorgon figure is adorable.*) Or these rad new individual character posters? One summer can change everything, the banner promises. Or is that maybe a warning?

*I wish they’d bring back the Demogorgon. There’s no reason why they couldn’t, as we now know that “Demogorgon” is in reality an entire species and not just a single beast. Dart would have grown up to be a fully bipedal Demogorgon. For that matter, they can give us the best of both worlds, and bring back Dart *as* a fully grown Demogorgon! Imagine a *good* Demogorgon, one who remembers being raised by Dustin and is still loyal to him. Imagine the kids trying to keep Dart the Demogorgon hidden in Will’s basement! Imagine if Dart followed them all to school one day! The possibilities are nigh endless!
