STRANGER THINGS at the Con
Ah, the San Diego Comic Con. For all of us who can’t go—and let’s just call a spade a spade, that’s the vast majority of us—we at least get to enjoy it somewhat by reading about it online and looking at all the photographs taken. The movie trailers released for the SDCC find their way online almost immediately. No, it’s not like being there. It’s nowhere close to being there. But we have to take what we can get.
Check out the STRANGER THINGS bus depot. It’s a mash-up of the video game arcade from the second season and the Byers living room from the first, with the Mind-flayer hovering menacingly overhead. There are also con-exclusive toys, and toys that debuted at the Con but will eventually be available for the rest of us, like Funko Pop! figures of Dustin with the Steve hair, a Billy and Karen Wheeler two-pack, and a Steve Dorbz with spiked baseball bat and bandana.
One of those trailers that I was just talking about, released for the SDCC, was the one for the upcoming GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, and it featured a lot of Millie Bobby Brown, with glimpses of the movie’s *real* stars. (Sorry, MBB.) I gotta be honest. Those glimpses were enough to have me saying “Mind-flayer WHO?” (Not really. I still love the Mind-flayer. It’s just, come on—Godzilla!)
