STRANGER THINGS a rip-off or a theme park attraction?

Some dude’s suing the Duffer brothers for stealing his idea for their monster hit show STRANGER THINGS. It’s gonna get tricky, though, because the guy who is claiming the brothers ripped him off based his own story, the one supposedly cribbed by the Duffers, from the Montauk incident, which is reportedly a real-life event. The Duffers could just claim they based their show on Montauk, too–in fact they have in the past. See how the claim of copyright infringement is gonna be hard to prove? However it plays out, it shouldn’t affect the fans any. Worst case scenario is that the Duffers have to pay the guy off. They probably can afford it.

Fans will be able to visit the Upside-Down for themselves this fall, and they won’t even have to go to Long Island, New York, to the Camp Hero military base outside Montauk, to do it. (You could, though. The infamous Camp Hero is today a state park.) They can just head to Orlando, or to Hollywood. Or to Singapore, of all places. Universal Studios theme parks are adding a STRANGER THINGS-based maze to their annual Halloween Horror Nights event in September and October. Every year I say I’m gonna go, but I have yet to make it. Maybe this year. Maybe…
