Strange and Stranger (Things)

Check out these fingernails. Cute, ain’t they? I dig the Demogorgon one the most, I think, but they’re all cool. If I wore fingernails, I’d do ’em up this way. I did paint my nails once
–black–just to see how it’d look. They looked fine, but I could feel the paint and it bugged me. I don’t see how people who wear nail polish can stand it. I had to go on a trip once, and my girlfriend painted my toenails a bright, glittery blue before I left. It was summertime and I wore my trademarked sandals, as she’d known I would, so I got lots of attention for those toenails. Unlike with my fingers, the paint on my toes didn’t bother me. So if any aspiring artist out wants to come paint the Demogorgon on my toes, I’d consider it. (No, I won’t blame you if you don’t. I wouldn’t take me up on that, either.)

In other STRANGER THINGS news, here’s a handy slideshow of all the places STRANGER THINGS steals from. (Their words, not mine. I would call them “homages” and not thefts.) Most of them you already know. I wouldn’t have immediately identified the show’s opening theme with John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN, though, and I wouldn’t have picked up on any of the John Hughes references because I never watched any John Hughes movies.

In terms of 80s homages, here is a list of all the references in season 2. They CLAIM it’s all. I suspect they missed a few.

And yes, I AM treading water, here, writing about the show without spoiling it for myself until I see season 2–which I still haven’t!

Oh, by the way, and not surprisingly, the show has been renewed for a third season. Which will probably be out by the time I get to watch THIS one!
