Spoiler Cops and the IT Connection

Do the kinds of people most prone to getting arrested watch STRANGER THINGS? I wouldn’t think so, normally, but then it does seem everybody in the world is watching the show these days. (Except for me, unfortunately. But I WILL get around to watching it.) If I find that I simply cannot wait, though, and have to know what happens in the second season, I could always go to East Lansing, Michigan and get myself arrested. There, the police department has threatened to reveal all the details of STRANGER THINGS sophomore season to anyone unfortunate enough to get himself busted. (Sure, I could just google it, but where’s the fun in that?)

In other STRANGER THINGS news, show creators the Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, have revealed that they took some inspiration from Stephen King’s IT. Matt saw the Tim Curry miniseries in 1990, and it stoked his already-present coulrophobia. “Curry’s performance as Pennywise…messed me up. Like, it scarred me in a major way. It was one of the first true horror things I had seen, and I had not experienced Stephen King before…so that was a really huge point in my life. It was two weeks, at least, of no sleep because of that.” The brothers also credit GREMLINS as an influence. Now while I really dug the new bigscreen iteration of IT, I have to say that I found the first season of STRANGER THINGS to be superior. As far as GREMLINS, I’d put them neck-in-neck. The first season, that is. I can’t comment on the second season yet. YET.
