Sexy Skinless Werewolf Babes (and Swamp Thing)

I read issue number 40 of SWAMP THING, titled “The Curse”, before I saw the film THE COMPANY OF WOLVES. I’ve written before of the huge debt I owe to SWAMP THING and to writer Alan Moore and artists Steve Bissette and John Totleben, who created it. The imprint this comic, Horror of the highest sort, with a new issue delivered straight to the little mom-and-pop store where I bought my comics every month (the owners had no idea what they were selling, lemme tell ya), had on me cannot be overstated. Thus it was that issue of SWAMP THING wherein I first saw a werewolf transformation that involved the werewolf slipping out of its human skin, leaving the skin discarded, the way a snake sheds its skin. Technically I think THE COMPANY OF WOLVES did it first, and then we saw it again in the Fox television series WEREWOLF, where the villainous beast Skorzeny, played with such creepy intensity by Chuck Conners, pulled his face back like one of us would pull back a hoodie. Intense!

I was rewatching Michael Dougherty’s TRICK R TREAT the other night, and I realized the werewolf babes in that film also transform by breaking out of their human skins. Just before they start shedding—and shredding—their hides, though, when they’re partially transformed? Those have to be the sexiest werewolves I’ve ever seen. Va-va-voom!
