“Satanic” Painting Taken Down
We must not offend the stupid, no, no. We must pander to the lowest common denominator.
Is it fair to call the people who complained about an outdoor painting in Lakeland, Florida stupid? If willful, deliberate ignorance is tantamount to stupidity, then yes, it is. Artist Aaron Corbitt created the work, THE FALL OF DIONYSUS, as a representation of his struggle with alcoholism. But some yutzes saw it and, without bothering to do any investigation, without bothering to verify anything, decided it was “satanic” and complained about it. The painting was taken down as a result. It galls me to no end to see people kowtowing to the morons of the world.
Here’s what one of the initial complainants had to say, after he learned the truth about the painting. Addressing Corbitt, the yutz said: “The best I could interpret from looking at it, was that It seemed confusing, dark and satanic like to me. In my opinion, you have many great pieces that are suitable for a public space, however this particular piece is too subjective & made for a gallery not the busiest street in Lakeland…I know nothing about Greek mythology, and I would assume many people in Lakeland don’t either.” It would seem you don’t know that much about grammar either, partner. Also, you shouldn’t assume everyone in your city is as uneducated as you admit that you are.
Censorship. It’s so much easier than thinking.
