Satan Saves Ozzy

Ozzy Osbourne credits the Devil with keeping him safe from Covid. “My wife had the virus; my daughter had the virus and I never got it. Being a devil worshipper does have its good points!” said Ozzy. At 72 years of age, having just come off a serious and potentially life-threatening staph infection after having surgery, and suffering from Parkinson’s, the Oz Man is a textbook example of one who would likely get 86ed by the ‘Rona, should he contract it. And too we have to take into account all the damage Ozzy did to his body throughout his years of drug addiction. It’s kind of a credit to the power of the Prince of Darkness that Ozzy is still with us, even without Covid.

You might think we owe it to Michael Jackson and not Ol’ Scratch for Ozzy’s iconic appearance as the werewolf for his BARK AT THE MOON album cover and video. (And makeup maestro Greg Cannom, who did the FX for the “Thriller” video as well as going on to work on the WEREWOLF TV series and THE LOST BOYS.) But in fact Ozzy’s werewolf transformation predated “Thriller” by a few weeks. The video for “Bark at the Moon” also borrowed from Robert Louis Stevenson’s THE STRANGE CASE OF DOCTOR JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE as it is by drinking a potion he concocts in a laboratory that Ozzy’s transformation is achieved. In the video, that is. One assumes black magic is involved when Ozzy really transforms into a werewolf.
