Rey Goes To The Wolves
I’m a Horror nut through and through. That doesn’t mean I don’t love a few other pop cultural touchstones as well. STAR WARS, for example. I’ve managed to squeeze in the occasional article here and on our sister sites referencing the film franchise. The hulking Wampa from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is a perfect fit for a website devoted to werewolves. (For that matter, so is Chewbacca, who was designed to look like the standard from numerous Sasquatch sightings. Bigfoot was big news in the 70s, remember.) The STAR WARS universe even had its own werewolf, who had his own action figure. And the STAR WARS movies had their share of Horror trappings, too. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee both had prominent roles, and makeup maestro Rick Baker worked on the films. Yessir, STAR WARS and Horror go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Check out that photograph of gorgeous Daisy Ridley running with–or posing with–wolves.
It’s from a shoot that Ridley did for VOGUE magazine and it’s flippin’ sweet. Why wolves? Why not! Wolves are strong, majestic, beautiful, and a little intimidating. Seems like a perfect fit for the soon-to-be-a-Jedi to me. They should make a poster out of that image.
