David Henesy is one of the two primary actors from DARK SHADOWS (the other being Alexandra Moltke) who has, in the years since the show left the airwaves (or ceased its original run; it never really left the airwaves), mostly avoided the public eye. As a child actor on the show, he played several key roles, and was there for the cult serial’s entire run. Thus you know he has lots of stories to tell, and thus it is that his upcoming interview with Kathryn Leigh Scott (who herself played multiple roles on the show, most notably Barnabas Collins’ love interest Josette Dupree and, back when he was the bad guy, the object of his obsession and predation, Maggie the waitress) is a rather big deal for fans of the show.
We give props to Kathryn for scoring the interview, and to FANGORIA, which will be publishing said interview in its upcoming eleventh issue, available at Barnes and Noble and other select newsstands on April 20th. I can’t imagine a better place for this interview to see print than the legendary FANGORIA. I for one will be seeking out this issue specifically. I hope they devote more coverage to DARK SHADOWS in forthcoming issues, too. That would be the melding of two great cultural influences, putting a smile on my face as it reminds me of those days when, while I was just a wee lad, DARK SHADOWS was covered frequently in FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, the first Horror magazine I ever read, before moving on to FANGO in my adolescent years. (Technically I wasn’t reading FMOF at first, since I was too young to have learned to read yet, but I squawked at the grocery store for copies, anyway. I loved looking at the pictures. In fact one could rightfully say that comic books and issues of FMOF were the reasons, when I learned to read, that I did so well above the level of the other kids. Not bragging, just offering props where they’re due to my earliest influences.)
I’m rambling. Anyway, FANGORIA issue eleven. DARK SHADOWS. Make sure you pick it up!
