No Longer a ‘Being Human’ Virgin

That’s right Dear Readers, as much as I love werewolves and other supernatural beasties I never watched a single episode of Being Human, the original or the remake. But a few nights ago, while sitting in front of the TV and scanning through hundreds of channels that mostly consisted of lame reality shows, I saw that episodes of the Being Human remake were on Demand, so I decided to give the show a shot. And… I am so in love! I sat on my ass and watched every episode back to back, and considering that I have the attention span of a six-year-old on caffeine pills, that says something awesome for the show.

If you’re new to the world of Being Human, let me fill you in. The show is about three twenty-somethings who share a house and try to live a normal life despite being a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire. It shows how difficult it is being human, and gives watchers a new insight into the very different hardships each “monster” faces.

When I first started watching I assumed that Aiden, the vampire, would end up being my favorite character. I mean, he’s dark and gorgeous, full of angst and all that vampirey goodness. But instead, it was Josh the werewolf and Sally the ghost that really hooked me. Sally adds all sorts of mystery to the show, because you can’t help but wonder why she died, what new powers she’s going to learn, and of course, what is it that’s keeping her here. Josh on the other hand is just too adorable not to love. He’s this sweet and dorky guy with a ferocious beast living deep inside him. What’s not to like there? Plus he’s hot too, and instead of brooding all the time like Aiden, he’s the one that adds humor to the show in his own special anxious and restless way. Love!

Have any of you given the new Being Human a shot? If so, do you love it as much as I do?

  1. Now you understand my love for Josh in that lost puppy way? the show is good, I’m still wanting to keep up with the BBC Being Human as Syfy’s gives me a sense of no longer be lost when watching.

  2. I’m a huge fan of the BBC show, its easily in my top 5 TV shows right now. Russel Tovey does such a awesome frickin’ job of playing the werewolf George that Sam Huntington certainly has some competition as US counterpart Josh. I’m hoping Sam might be able to take the role and make it his own. It all looks great so far, great time for television horror right now! Gotta love it.

  3. I didn’t think that Aiden would be awesome, but really, all three of them blew me away. Reminded me that there are more than those damn pixies in Twilight. I want to watch the BBC version still, but that would take away a bit of the intrigue that I have so much for of this great new show, almost as good as Doctor who in my opinion.

    1. I finally watched part of the UK version and I couldn’t get into it. I didn’t care much for the acting or the feel of it (if that makes sense). It seemed a bit cheesy, so I didn’t continue to watch.

  4. I understand that completely. The UK version I tried to get into but it just wouldn’t work. Far too cheesy for my tastes.
