In case you don’t recognize the initials, AWIL stands for AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. You may recall that Max Landis, son of John Landis, the writer and director of the film, was working on a remake. I never had decided just how I felt about it, but now I really don’t know. Max Landis has now been accused** by multiple women of rape and physical and sexual abuse. It would seemingly be a miracle now for any studio to allow itself to be attached to any movie he was involved with. And yet the movie appears to be moving forward.
Word is that Robert Kirkman of THE WALKING DEAD fame has come onboard as a producer for the film. Will Max Landis still be involved in the production, though? We don’t know yet. Stay tuned.
**When only one person is making accusations I tend to remain on the fence in regards to forming an opinion. As much as I understand the necessity of believing the victim—and any allegation *must* be investigated, always—there’s also the possibility of someone abusing the system and crying wolf when no abuse ever took place, in hopes of getting a big fat paycheck. The spurious allegations against Stan Lee come immediately to mind, and that guy who claimed he was abused by George Takei and then later admitted he lied about it. When multiple sources are making the same claim, though, it cements things for me. And Max Landis has been accused by quite a few people.
