Make Halloween a Federal Holiday!

I’m confused. I thought Halloween already WAS a holiday. Oh, you mean OFFICIALLY. Make it a FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED holiday, where government workers, bankers, and such get the day off from work and kids get out of school. Sounds good to me. Where do I sign?

Since Halloween IS technically a true holiday, or “holy day,” there is some precedent. Granted the celebration has become mostly secular, although liturgical churches still recognize All Saints Day on November 1st, to which Halloween, or “All Hallows Evening” (shortened to “Hallow e’en”) serves as preamble. Halloween lover Richard Doredant has launched a petition to the White House asking the President to declare his favorite holiday as a NATIONAL day of celebration. He stresses the commercial value of Halloween (second only to Christmas in terms of the amount of money people spend on it, and the total keeps rising). Now is the time for all Hallowe’en lovers (you see what I did there?) to be heard! Sign the petition at the source link below. Let’s make this happen!
