Lost Girl is Back!

One of my all-time favorite shows, Lost Girl, is back for its second season! Yay! I’ve briefly written about the show in the past and since then I have fallen absolutely and madly in love with it. Lost Girl contains the most fantastic group of characters, from a sexy succubus to a hilariously cocky sidekick, and of course, there’s also one character that can transform into a wolf.

Lost Girl follows supernatural seductress Bo (who I totally have a girl crush on), a Succubus who feeds on people’s sexual energy.  Growing up with human parents, Bo has no reason to believe she’s anything other than the girl next door – until she drains her boyfriend to death in their first sexual encounter. Once she hits the road, Bo discovers she is one of the Fae, creatures of legend and folklore, who pass as humans while feeding off them secretly, as they have for millennia. Relieved, yet at the same time, horrified to find out that she is not alone, Bo is faced with choosing an allegiance between the Dark and Light Fae clans.  Bo decides to take the middle path between the humans and the Fae while embarking on a personal mission to unlock the secrets of her past.

With the help of her human sidekick, Kenzi (who I also love), Bo takes on a challenge every week helping a Fae or human client who comes to her to solve a mystery, or to right a wrong.  Helping her is Dyson, a gorgeous Fae working as a human police detective.

The wolf of the show is the detective Dyson. While he is Fae and is never actually called a werewolf in the show, he has an inner beast and the power to transform into a beautiful and deadly wolf. So even though he’s not called a werewolf, he pretty much is.

While the show focuses on Bo and her Fae adventures, Dyson is one of the main characters, so I can see many werewolf fans enjoying Lost Girl. The show is serious and hilarious all at once and actually reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in some ways due to the humor. I’m pretty much obsessed with Lost Girl and highly recommend it.

Lost Girl is originally a Canadian show and the new episodes are airing now on Showcase. However, SyFy has bought the first season of the show and is airing it in the US. Personally, I would watch the Canadian version instead of the US one. I have a feeling the US version will be slightly edited since Canada isn’t as strict as the US when it comes to swearing and such.

Have any of you seen Lost Girl already, if so, what do you think? As obsessed as I am?

  1. I’ve watched all of Season 1 and I think this is a great show! I like how well it mixes action and humor, I like the character interactions, and I like how Canadian television doesn’t hold back. Also, I am in love with Kenzi.

I can’t help but think of Buffy as well, probably because of the strong female leads, and of course all the monsters, but its a lot different and enjoyable in a totally different way. I’m stoked for Season 2!

  2. Unlike True Blood and Vampire Diaries, The lost girl has a better represntation of a werewolf. Dyson is what a real werewolf(a normal looking wolf on all fours) should be and not some mopey, weak-ass, pussy like Alcide.
