First, the official synopsis, aka the spiel: “Paul lives an isolated life with his father in upstate New York. He finds making friends impossible due to a rare condition he has known as congenital hypertrichosis–an affliction that causes an abnormal amount of hair growth all over his face and body. On his 13th birthday, Paul receives a mysterious gift that compels him to run away and seek out the mother he has never known.”
THE TRUE ADVENTURES OF WOLFBOY is directed by first-timer Martin Krejci, from a script by Olivia Dufault. It will debut on VOD on October 30th. It stars Jaeden Martell from the two IT movies, KNIVES OUT, and THE LODGE.
We don’t know yet if this one will have teeth like the last movie I know of to deal with the condition of hypertrichosis, the 2001 made-for-cable movie WOLF GIRL, aka WOLFGIRL, aka BLOOD MOON (this last a terrible title, as the moon has nothing whatsoever to do with the film), wherein the titular heroine becomes feral after ingesting an experimental drug to cure her of her condition. The synopsis for THE TRUE AVENTURES OF WOLFBOY could just as easily describe a heartwarming family drama as a Horror flick. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what we get.
