I have never seen the amount of onscreen bitching among my friends on social media, concerning any topic, as I have seen regarding that series finale of GAME OF THRONES. I never watched the show. This last statement does not make me one of those who boasts about having never watched the show. I understand, also from seeing my friends’ posts, that this is a thing now. It’s true that I never watched GAME OF THRONES and don’t plan to start, but I don’t care if *you* watched it. However, upon seeing how upset and disappointed people are en masse with the way the show ended, I’m glad I never watched it.
Even before the finale, though, it seems fans were upset. They didn’t like the way Jon Snow treated Ghost, his pet Direwolf. (I did read the first book in George R.R. Martin’s series, so I know who Jon Snow and Ghost are.) What did Snow do to the beast, kick it? Abuse it? No, it seems he, um, gave it away. Granted that hardly sounds like mistreatment, but maybe if I watched the show it would make more sense in context why people are so pissed. I mean, I’m one of those people who gets more upset over an animal character dying in a story than a human character dying, so I’d be on Ghost’s side. I would’ve preferred to see Ghost jump on him and tear his throat out. But that’s just me. And it would probably have been out of character for Ghost.
